Effective 08/09/2021, masks will be required for everyone entering a BARC building regardless of their vaccination status (excluding those who have an exempt to wear a mask). A memo will be sent home with all individuals and can be viewed HERE.

Update on 3/19/2020
BARC’s day programs will be closed effective Friday, March 20 at the end of the day. We hope that this will only be for two weeks – we will update you as more information becomes available. A memo is being sent to our individuals, their families and guardians today but we also thought this was a good way to notify everyone connected with BARC. Stay well everyone!

The Hidden Cafe, located on Jerome Ave., will remain open for take out/pick up only indefinitely. Please call 860-584-0043 to place an order for take out/pick up.

Update on 3/13/2020
The health and safety of all our individuals, staff and customers are our top priority, and our thoughts are with those impacted by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) global pandemic. Since it first surfaced, our Leadership team has been monitoring the situation closely and with the guidance from DDS and the CDC, have been taking appropriate and careful precautions to keep our individuals, staff and customers safe. With the effects of the outbreak being felt more each day, we wanted to share what we have been doing.
* Our locations are cleaned daily, and we recently increased the frequency of cleaning and wiping down throughout the day with a focus on high traffic areas.
* We are asking staff to make common-sense health precautions recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), such as frequent hand washing or using alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
* We are reminding customers that they can utilize our convenient To-Go service through our Hidden Café by dialing 860-584-0043. This will allow customers to order lunch over the phone and pick up at Jerome Avenue.
* We have made arrangements for some of the individuals in our Residential Programs to stay home, based on criteria set forth in DDS’ memo (regarding age and health concerns) and team discussions. These decisions are being made on a case-by-case basis.
* We will not be closing Day Programs at this time.
* While we appreciate the incredible dedication of our staff, we’re reminding them to stay home if they are sick and to use our paid time-off options.
All of these safeguards and precautions are made with everyone in mind. They are based on recommendations from the local, state, and federal health officials whose experts are working tirelessly to safeguard our health. We will continue to follow guidance from DDS, health agencies and government officials as this situation evolves to maintain a safe and engaging atmosphere for everyone associated with BARC. We will post updates to this information as the situation warrants.
