Common Questions

Where is BARC moving?

225 North Main Street in downtown Bristol. Our offices and programs will occupy the whole 5th floor.

Why is BARC moving?

BARC is moving to this new location for a couple of reasons:
1. We want to bring BARC downtown which increases our visibility to the greater Bristol community.
2. We want to open new training opportunities for the people we support at our Jerome Avenue location.
3. We want to open a new program dedicated to supporting adults with autism and to expand our current activities-based programs.
4. We want to move our administrative operations and most of our leadership team to one centralized location that will best serve BARC and the community.

Who will occupy this new space?

Administration and Finance (currently at 195 Maltby Street) will move. The following programs from Jerome Avenue will also relocate to this space: IAP 1, IAP 2, and Art.

Is the Hidden Café moving?

No – the Hidden Café will stay at Jerome Avenue. It will be an important component of our training program. Our greenhouse, Jerome Gardens, will also be a part of our training program. This is why our training program will be based at Jerome Avenue – our businesses are already there.

Where will Yard Service program be headquartered?

This program will be based at Jerome Avenue.

What will happen with the open space at Jerome Avenue?

We are planning a training center for the individuals we support. More details about this to come.

How will transportation work at the new location?

Stay tuned – we are working on this and will give more information as it becomes available.

How long will this project take?

It began in June 2024 and we estimate it will be completed by November / December 2024.

When does BARC plan on moving into this new space?

Soon after completion of this project – December 2024 / January 2025.
