The Boy Street group home was opened in October 2008. The home was fully modified to include all the necessary handicapped features for the five ladies that reside there. The ladies enjoy spending time in their home, decorating with homemade arts & crafts projects for each season and holiday throughout the year. They plant a garden in the spring and use their back yard for cookouts and leisure time on the canopy swing. They enjoy the company of Diamond, the cat. The ladies like music and look forward to their monthly music therapy session with Maggie. In addition, one of the ladies is taking guitar lessons.
Two of the residents spend their weekdays at Jerome Avenue working in the Candy Kitchen and Production Room. They enjoy their work and are proud of the money they earn. The other three attend the day program site on Lake Avenue, engaging in more leisure activities.
During the weekends and at night they take pleasure in getting out in the community. They frequently attend plays and shows as well as community dances and picnics at the local parks. In the summer, they participate in a weekly bowling league. One of the ladies participates in Special Olympics bowling in the fall. They look forward to spending vacations and holidays with their families and friends. They love going shopping and out to eat.
